on that scene
Tom, I love you. I do. And you are one of the most brilliant actors ever. But this scene was fun for you and torture for everyone else. Also, it destroyed the story. And all Asgard. Wait, did Loki make you do this? To discredit Asgard by making them all look like totally evil dickwads?
…..What the fuck? Are you seriously trying to claim a “poor me how dare you find this so fun” when he’s talking as an actor about having to reach deep inside himself to create a fully three dimensional character?
Here’s a bit of knowledge for you: Professionals in their field, in a field they work in because it is their life find challenges “Fun”. The complexity. The work. The actual sacrifice being put into making this work, because the payoff is worth it. This is actually what he’s referring to. The fun for him is the challenge in creating a living, breathing character, complex as hell, and yet so tightly controlled you can often only let the barest glimpses of the turmoil be seen. This is his job as an actor. And he adores it.
How did this scene destroy the story? I want to know your logic behind that statement. Seriously. How did this destroy the story. How did it destroy Asgard? How did the fact that Loki feels fucking pain and rage at the death of his mother, the ONE family member he still had any open kinship with, but refuses to let that pain be seen by others cast a fucking aspersion on anyone? How does the fact that Thor knows the man he was raised beside all his life well enough to see straight through the façade make anyone look bad?
I go with fluffmugger. This scene proved that Loki has a heart, that he can feel, that he isn’t the cold monster he tried so hard to make himself and others believe he is. He tried to mask his despair because he is a much too proud individual. Thor seems calm and composed in spite of the grief and Loki tries to mimic it, to be his equal.
This is Tom loving his character so much, that he gifts us, watchers, with the full dedication he has towards the role he’s playing.
Did you ever feel exhilarated by working hard on your hobbies and getting recognition? That is the ‘fun’ he’s talking about, his baby getting recognition and love.
He often gets teary eyes when speaking of his Loki, so stop getting him wrong. Tom is as heartbroken as us in regard to MCU Loki. Before the film makers decided it would be bad policy to kill Loki for good, he asked Stan Lee: “Are you happy now?” and his face was as broken as Loki’s…
Sorry for the rant. I’m usually hiding in my corner where I’m crawling back right now.
YES THANK YOU ANGRYMADSYGIN AND FLUFFMUGGER <3
